UK Supplement Trends — August 2025: the multivitamin spike

August produced the most extreme reading in our record. A concentrated wave of comprehensive multivitamin briefs pushed every core vitamin to the top of the board at once: Vitamin B6 reached 67% of all quotes, with Vitamin B12, Vitamin D3 and Vitamin C all above 60% and Biotin at 59%. Nothing before or since has looked quite like it.

Months like this are worth reading carefully. This was not every ingredient rising slowly; it was a cluster of full-spectrum, everything-in formulations landing in a single month and lifting the whole vitamin block together. It is a reminder that demand arrives in waves, and that one busy category can reshape a month’s numbers.

Ingredient in focus: L-Tyrosine

The month’s most revealing mover was not a vitamin. L-Tyrosine surged to 33% of quotes, a remarkable showing for an amino acid best known in focus and stress-response formulas. Its jump alongside the multivitamin wave points to a specific kind of product: the comprehensive daily formula that adds a cognitive or energy active to stand out from a plain multivitamin. L-Tyrosine is a low-cost way to give a broad formula a functional angle, and August showed brands reaching for exactly that.

What else moved

Beetroot climbed to 27%, continuing its on-and-off presence in the performance category, while the everyday minerals took a back seat to the vitamin surge. It was, unusually, a vitamin-led month in a year otherwise dominated by minerals.

What it means for brands

August’s spike is a caution and an opportunity. The caution: never read a single extreme month as a permanent shift, because waves recede. The opportunity: the comprehensive multivitamin is clearly still a major part of UK demand, and the brands doing it well are the ones adding a functional active, an L-Tyrosine, a botanical, a nootropic, to lift it above the commodity multivitamin it would otherwise be. If you are building a daily formula, that functional lift is your differentiator.

After the surge came the reckoning. September brought the market sharply back to earth, and a new theme stepped forward.
